IC1805 - Heart Nebula

IC1805 - HEART NEBULA (HOO) GRAHAM CONATY / TELESCOPE LIVE

The Heart Nebula (IC1805) looks, in whole, like a human heart. It glows brightly in red light emitted by its most prominent element, Hydrogen.

Also, part of this region, towards the bottom of the image, is IC1795, more commonly referred to as the Fish Head Nebula.

The Fish Head Nebula is part of a huge star forming system of gas and dust.

The brighter region of IC1795 is home to many massive, young, stars which radiate copious amounts of ultraviolet light. This ultraviolet radiation excites the surrounding gas and causes it to shine much the same way as a neon light emits its colorful hues.
