VELA SUPERNOVA REMNANT GRAHAM CONATY


The Vela Supernova Remnant is, as the name says, a supernova remnant located in the southern constellation Vela. It is located at a distance of around 815 light-years from Earth.

Its name means “the sails” in Latin.

Its source Type II supernova exploded approximately 11,000–12,300 years ago.
